Public workers to begin receiving August salaries

Grenada
The Grenada government says it will begin paying August salaries to public servants on Tuesday, but gave no reason for the delay in meeting its financial obligations to the estimated 4,000 employees.

In a brief statement on Monday night, the Tillman Thomas government said that the "the process of payment to public workers will commence Tuesday... and will be completed by Wednesday, September 5".

"Government regrets the delay but wishes to assure all public workers that they will be paid by Wednesday, September 5, 2012," the statement added.
