National Security Minister Austin 'Jack' Warner Tuesday confirmed that soldiers would set up camp in Beverly Hill, the volatile Laventille area where four people have been murdered in the past 48 hours and authorities fear additional reprisal killings.

Warner, speaking on television also announced that he had completed a plan to deal with the escalating crime here, especially murder, and would be sent to Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar and the National Security Council.

"The army will set up two patrol bases in the area of operations," Warner said, adding that gang leaders would be specifically targeted.

"We shall deploy every asset that is necessary and we shall maintain this for an indefinite period," he added.
