Jamaica’s Minister of Education, Hon. Rev. Ronald Thwaites, will be the guest speaker at the 25th Anniversary Dinner Gala of the Project for the Advancement of Childhood Education (P.A.C.E.) Canada.
The event will take place on Saturday, November 17, at the Hilton Suites Conference Centre in Markham. Master of Ceremonies will be CBC News Anchor, Dwight Drummond.
Minister Thwaites, a lawyer and farmer, was appointed Jamaica’s Education Minister in January 2012. President of P.A.C.E. (Canada), Dr. Mary Anne Chambers says the group is looking forward to hearing, first hand, Thwaites’ plans for the development of Jamaica’s most valuable resources.
“Minister Thwaites obviously recognizes the need to strengthen the outcomes of Jamaica’s education system at all levels.
His visit to Canada coincides with P.A.C.E. (Canada)’s celebration of 25 years of connecting caring individuals to the needs of young children in order that they can have hope for a brighter future,” said Dr. Chambers, who has headed the organisation since 2010.
Special awards will be presented at the event, including the Founder’s Award, the 2012 Helen Isobel Sissons Canadian Children’s Story Award, and two Community Builders Award. For more information and tickets, 416-208-3103 or email@pacecanada.org or www.pacecanada.org
