CASTRIES, St. Lucia, CMC:
Police Commissioner Vernon Francois has issued a stern warning to drug traffickers and others engaged in the illegal drugs trade that their assets will be targeted in the battle against crime.
His warning followed Wednesday’s seizure of nearly three million EC dollars (One EC dollar =US$0.37 cents) worth of cocaine on board a pleasure boat.
Police described the seizure of 100 kilograms of cocaine as one of the biggest drug busts on the island. French national, Roger Tinard, 68 is due to appear in court here on Friday charged with importation, possession and intent to supply the illegal drug.
The Police Commissioner said that seizing assets linked to the illegal drugs trade will be a major focus of law enforcement authorities.
