Trinidad carnival Road March title goes to “SuperBlue”

Published: Thursday February 14, 2013 | 3:59 pm Comments 0

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC - Austin “SuperBlue” Lyons captured his ninth Road March title in what has been dubbed as one of the best comebacks in the history of Soca.

SuperBlue’s “Fantastic Friday” reigned over Machel Montano's "Float" in a stunning 511-to-56 victory based on results from the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians' Organisation (Tuco).

The hit “Fantastic Friday” played on Carnival Monday and Tuesday at seven judging points - the Queen's Park Savannah in Port of Spain, Adam Smith Square and South Quay in Port of Spain, Arima, San Fernando and Tobago.

Last Friday, SuperBlue and Machel Montano tied for the International Soca Monarch 2013

SuperBlue last won the Road March title in 2000 with the hit "Pump Up".

Taking national Large Band of the Year for the seventh consecutive time was Brian MacFarlane, with Joy—The Finale, which he has declared to be his last time in the arena.

The Medium Band title was taken by The Conquest and, in the Small Band category, Under D Big Top took first place.
