Wyclef

  • Wyclef in Jamaica for a while

Hip hop superstar Wyclef Jean has taken a keen interest in Jamaica. Over the next few weeks he will be very active on the island, taking part in Reggae Sumfest plus several smaller gigs.

Word is that he plans a big party for a posh resort on the outskirts of Kingston early next month. He will invite guests to listen to tracks from his forthcoming album.

  • Gospel superstars coming

Gospel exponents Alvin Slaughter and Ron Kenoly are headed to Jamaica for Radio Jamaica's 50th anniversary celebrations. They will lead a praise and worship concert on July 31 on the grounds of Kings House. The event is being produced by Life Productions.

  • Re-release of rhythm

Singer Jimmy Riley will be re-releasing the Conversation rhythm on his Love Promotions label soon.

"It's a great rhythm, and I anticipate that it will do big things this time around when it is released. I feel it is the singers' time again," he said.

The singles on the rhythm include My Conversation by Riley, Dem And Those by Junior Kelly and King Jepthah by Luciano.

  • Striking gold

Currently riding high with the success of the Hot Gal Today combination, International MOBO artiste, Mr. Vegas, has struck gold again with his hot new single, Girls' Time.

"It's a bona fide number one single, it has been selling extraordinarily well in recent weeks and it augurs well for his upcoming album which will coincidentally be called Girls Time," manager Byron Murray said.

  • Bellyful of fun

Last week, entertainer Madd Anju worked up a feverish storm to give the over 14,000 patrons inside the York College venue in New York, a bellyful of fun and excitement.

To the strains of his Fat Gal hit, the crowd arose to its feet. At that time, oversized dancer Bubbler brought a new dimension to the deejay's act. He gave her the treatment only a mentally ill man knew how to, and she responded in kind.

The show was promoted by Super Meng Promotions.

  • King Jammys and the Japanese

The Japanese band, 'Dry and Heavy' has requested the talents of veteran producer King Jammys to mix its upcoming album. The album is called King Jammys meets Dry and Heavy in the Jaws of the Tiger.
