THE organizers of Sashi 2000, have promised an improved event that will feature some aspects of show production that are new to the region. This year, Sashi 2000 will be a two-day event and will see the launch of the full line of the Sashi denim collection, taking place in Kingston on Friday, August 25. The launch of the Sashi fashion line will see a host of megastars in attendance.
Sashi 2000, which will feature internationally renowned artistes, will be held at one of the premier live show venues, the James Bond Beach, in Oracabessa, St. Mary, on Sunday, August 27.
In its second year, the Sashi, is organized by the Lords Of Yard (LOY). The Event Lab has been given the contract to produce the show. Six full service bars, in addition to water and fruit juice bars will be on site.
The orgasiers say the watering holes will be strategically positioned so that every patron can have easy access. Internet users will be able to listen to the show on their personal computers and live radio broadcasts are slated to be sent to listeners in Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Los Angeles, through the efforts of one of the show's main sponsors, American radio station, Radio 1.
Other overseas sponsors of Sashi 2000 include, Vibe magazine and MTV.
At Sashi 2000, the stage decor and choreography will be improved and showgoers are almost certain to get their money's worth, the organisers say.
"The organizers of this premier event on the entertainment calendar, remain committed to bringing major current artistes to Jamaica", a spokesman said, "This year promises to be even more impressive".
Last year, popular acts Naughty by Nature, K-Ci and Jo-Jo and Genuine made their presence felt and this year major names in the entertainment business, among them famed troubadour, Brian Mcknight, are being touted to appear at Sashi 2000.
