FRIDAY

'AUGUS MAWNIN' for limited run

'AUGUS MAWNIN', the Pantomime Company's 'salute to our ancestors' has returned for its third season at the Little-Little Theatre, Tom Redcam Drive.

The run is limited to 10 performances, playing Friday and Saturday 7:30p.m., Sunday 5:00p.m until August 6.

The show, is based on a story of a group of runaway slaves seeking to find the day of freedom (first of August). Their journey is traced through poetry, songs, dances and story- telling woven into a poignant yet lively drama.

On August 4, special guest will be Governor-General, Sir Howard Cooke, while Monday, July 31, there will be a special free public Emancipation performance at 7:30 p.m at the Manchester Shopping Centre, Mandeville.

Harvest supper

THE CHURCH of the Resurrection, 1D Dickens Avenue, Duhaney Park, Kingston 20, will hold its annual harvest supper on the church grounds on Friday, July 28. Supper will be served from 6:00 p.m.

There will be ice cream, cake and juices in addition to the supper menu.

Gate prize is a basket of groceries.

Fish day

THE LIONS Club of downtown Kingston's Fish Extravaganza takes place at Small Business Association, 2 Trafalgar Road, Kingston on Friday, July 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Bethany Primary Homecoming

ON FRIDAY July 28, the New York Chapter of the Bethany Prime School Past Students Association will present a computer and other equipment to the school at 10:00 a.m.

Come Saturday July 29, there will be several social events, including an 'over 30' cricket match. The day's activities will culminate with an oldies session.

On Sunday, July 30 teachers who have served the school from the late 1960s will be honoured at the Bethany Baptist Church, Alexandria, St. Ann at 3:00 p.m.

Guest speaker will be the Minister of Education, Senator Burchell Whiteman.

Celebration

THE BUXTON High School banquet is set for Saturday, August 5 at the Liguanea Club, New Kingston. Cocktails will be served at 7:00 p.m., dinner at 8:00 p.m. The presentation of the first scholarship will be made and guest speaker will be Dr. Alfred Sangster.

Then on Sunday, July 30 there will be a church service at the Trinity Moravian, 35 Montgomery Avenue, Kingston, beginning 9:00 a.m.

on the move

'GOSPEL TRAIN Breakthrough 2000' continues its islandwide travel from Saturday, July 29 to Saturday, August 12 in Port Antonio, Mandeville, Falmouth, Sav-la-Mar, May Pen, St. Mary and Kingston.

Featuring Papa San, Carlene Davis, Ziggy Soul, Winsome Benjamin, Glacia Robinson, Prodigal Son, Kgees, Junior Tucker, Jodi McCalla, Segulah and Forgiven.

'Destiny In Concert'

HOLINESS CHRISTIAN Church, 3 Bethune Avenue, Kingston 13 presents 'Destiny In Concert 2000' on Saturday, July 29, at 7:00 p.m., at STATHS Auditorium, 64 Spanish Town Road, Kingston.

Another show has been set for Sunday, July 30,at 6:00 p.m., at the Fellowship Tabernacle, 58 Half-Way Tree Road, Kingston.

CHURCH OF the Ascension presents 'Old Time Som'T'ing' on

'Night Flight'

THE JAMAICA Airline Pilots Association and Flight Attendants will present, 'Night Flight', an oldies event, featuring sounds of Skyy and Wild Bunch Discos, on Monday, July 31, beginning at 9:00 p.m., on the lawns of Immaculate Conception High School, Constant Spring Road, Kignston. Part proceeds in aid of the Musgrave Girls' Home, Adastra Gardens Basic School, PALS and other charities.

Birthday bash

CARL DAWKINS will be having his birthday bash at Little Copa, 8 Miles, Bull Bay on Monday, July 31 and Tuesday, August 1. Joining him in this celebration will be Ken Boothe and Gregory Isaacs.

Grand barbecue

THE EBONYVALE Citizens Association, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, presents a grand barbecue and kareoke on Tuesday, August 1, at the community centre. Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. Showtime will be 7:00 p.m.

'Super Fete 2000'

THE TRADITIONAL Wednesday 'Vintage Night' of Reggae Sumfest has made way for what has been dubbed 'Super Fete 2000' at Club Inferno, Rose Hall, Montego Bay on Wednesday, August 2.

The band on stage will be Fab 5, led by Grub Cooper. Skyy Disco, with DJ Squeeze, IRIE FM's Bob Clarke, the Captain Colin Hines from FAME FM and Jah Creation will complete the bill. According to the chairman of Club Inferno resort, Walt Crooks, 'Super Fete 2000' is the first of a series of major events which should hit that entertainment resort soon.
