Councillors crotose Gov'ts tardiness

THE ST. CATHERINE Parish Council, having labelled the Causeway entrance into Portmore as ugly, was critical of what it said was Government's tardiness in addressing the problem.

Councillor for the Edgewater Division, Collin Fagan, told the August sitting of the Council that the conditions on the Causeway were disgraceful, with children roaming the streets at will.

Mr. Fagan said the village has no running water and no toilets, adding that the environmental conditions at the entrance to one of Jamaica's largest communities were serious cause for concern.

Councillor George Lee in concurring with his colleague, said a development plan was needed for both the fishing village and traffic management.
