Jamaica'seconomic woes

THE EDITOR, Madam:

THE GRIM 'battle' which ensues between our gallant bureaucrats and the dire economic forces threatening to annihilate us, reminds us of the amusing folklore fight which pitted Brer Anancy against the adhesive Tar Baby.

Indeed, the fiscal contortions being employed, though remarkable, seem to be creating an even greater monetary deficit.

To exacerbate the crisis, of course Madam, one does not have to be an eminent economist to recognise that a country embraces 'chronic fiscal deficits' at its peril, notwithstanding expected 'moral largesse' by way of debt relief and/or reparations.

I am, etc.,
