Unveiling Sashi denim fashions

HUNDREDS OF patrons turned up at 'The Mansion' in Russell Heights, St. Andrew, on Friday night to witness the launch of Sashi Denim Line called 'Sashi The Collection'.

Flashing lights were seen from the road leading to the venue and the sound of Stone Love heard a far way off.

Security was tight; nobody got in without an official pass and as the night progressed, the crowd thickened.

DJs Bounty Killer and Goofy were present among the mix of locals, foreigners, uptown and downtown party-goers.

At 10:00 p.m. spotlights went on and the crowd drew closer as an impressive selection of models from Pulse, Saints International and Steps, took to the runway to show off the Sashi line ranging from day time to evening denim. For the most part the colours and designs were impressive, but some outfits seemed impractical.

Skirts barely covered the rear and meshed jeans revealed thongs. In fact, the designs were more suited for the dance hall arena, the main niche market.

Other designs included chic halter tops with studded jeans, tube tops in red, baby pink, baby blue and white. The sports wear included nylon jackets, tube tops and matching track pants.

The models strutted their stuff and the crowd howled and hooted, anxious to see what was next. After three appearances by each of the 18 or so models, the fashion show came to an end.

Sashi producers Ratio Hamilton and Ann Marie Adamson, were there to give support to Lisa Lindo, producer of the fashion show.

There were two bars and waiters on hand to serve wines and liquors throughout the evening. However, with the large crowd on the premises, there was only one female bathroom provided, which resulted in long queues.

After the fashion show ended, guests stayed on for the Stone Love party.
