'Specials' hold 50th Anniversary celebration concert

PORT MARIA:

A SMALL but appreciative audience were exposed to the talents of members of the Island Special Constabulary Force of Area 2 at a 50th Anniversary concert on Saturday.

The Claude Stuart Park in Port Maria was the venue where officers men and women constables from St. Mary, Portland and St. Ann showed their versatility in songs and poetry. Most of the items were of a religious flavour with the ISCF Choir doing folk songs while Special Woman Constable Sylvia Stewart brought down the house with a Louise Bennett item.

The ISCF Drum Corps added a touch of splendour to the evening's programme when they performed with cymbals, flutes, trumpets and drums doing several types of formation to the delight of the audience.

Co-ordinator of the programme Commander Rankin Clarke of St. Ann said the concert was one of a series of events in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the ISCF. This will include a church service at the St. Ann's Bay Baptist Church on September 17.

At the same time, Comman-der T. L. Taylor of Port Maria offered congratulations to the ISCF saying that they were playing an important role in the nation. An involvement of all aspects of police work was being carried out by the force he said, as they are a support for the regular police.
