THERE was entertainment galore at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex in Trench Town yesterday when Camperdown and Charlie Smith played to an exciting 2-2 draw in the Manning Cup.

The draw was Charlie Smith's first of the season after recording three consecutive wins but they remain atop Group C with ten points. Camperdown with their second stalemate from four encounters remain second with eight points.

A penalty converted by Michael Meikle in the 18th minute sent Charlie Smith in the lead but Kevin King's strike in the 47th minute levelled the scores. Charlie Smith again went ahead in the 51st minute through Kevin Rose but Damion Palmer's finish ensured that points were shared.

"It was a good game. Both teams had a game plan and they stuck to it," said Charlie Smith's coach Jerome Waite.

"Offensively I think my players needed to be more aggressive. Camperdown came into their own in the second half because we relaxed and we will have to improve on that," added Waite.

Barington Gaynor, coach of Camperdown was happy with a point.

"Charlie Smith is said to be the big team in the group and to come here and get a point is not bad. Usually when a team plays away, a point is good enough. I am satisifed with the result but I am not necessarily happy with how the team played. We played in spurts. I saw some good signs but defensively we were a bit too hurried and seem to lack confidence," he said.

RESULTS: Waterford 0 Kingston Technical 1; Charlie Smith 2 Camperdown 2; Bridgeport 1 Trench Town 1; Kingston College 1 Excelsior 0; Haile Selassie 4 Ascot 0.
