Entertainment Diary - shows and events

Higher Heights records presents a label launch and stage show at Tropics Club, Dumfries Road, New Kingston, Saturday, September 30,2000. Artiste line-up includes Elephant Man, Kip Rich, Franky Sly, General B, Baby Wayne, Danny English, Betti-Mac, Arrangement, Mr. Pepper, Little Steele and Hell Raiser. Showtime is 9 p.m. with emcee G.T. Taylor.

PMRS Music Ministries invites individuals and groups who can sing, compose, play a musical instrument, recite or do any other performing acts to register now for the December 2, 2000 Gospel Talent to be held at the Holy Cross Church, 77 Half Way Tree Road, Kingston 10, starting at 7 p.m. Entrants can win cash and other prizes and recording contracts.

Deejay Cutlass will have his birthday Bash, October 1, 2000 at Royal Entertain-ment Centre, Old Harbour Road. Performers include deejay Chuck Fender, Kip Rich, Lady G and Danny English.

The Jamaican Community in Texas is looking forward to the annual Black and White Ball promoted by Michael and "Bonnie" Godfrey of B and C Promotions. This will be held Saturday October 7, 2000. Jamaica's leading disco Stone Love with WeePow will play alongside Claude from Afrique with the popular Gemini.The September 28 semi-finals of the Tastee Talent Contest will see 24 competitors vying for prizes in cash and kind. Guest artistes include past Festival winners Chetenge, Stanley Beckford and The Jamaicans. The venue is the Tastee Outdoor Theatre, Cross Roads.

NA-Dean Promotions, in association with Coolie, presents "Showtime Cross The Waters" at Rolex Country Club, Bayside, Portmore on Friday, September 29, 2000. The show will feature selector Fire Links, Rendezvous the rising CD sound, Rebel T. and Nuffy from Portmore Carnival.

Rockline Promotions presents St. Mary Bling at Gray's Inn Sports Club, Annotto Bay, October 16, 2000. Peformers include deejay Beenie Man, Tanto Metro, Little Kirk, Captain Barkey, Charlie Chaplain, Power Man, Snagga Puss, Silver Cat, Bling Dog, Keri and Shadu. Emcee will be G.T Taylor.

Safire Music Limited will be putting on Ghetto Festival on Friday, September 29, at Bebow HQ at the corner of Septimus and Thompson Streets in Jones Town. Artists include Cobra, Danny English, Powerman and Ninja Kid. Music will be provided by Metro Media, Nu-Image, and Sound Trouper. Proceeds will be donated to the His Majestic Basic School in Jones Town.
