Plans for airport in St Elizabeth top agenda

WESTERN BUREAU:

THE PLAN to build an airport in St. Elizabeth is first on the agenda of the parish's homecoming committee meeting today at the offices of the Petroleum Corp-oration of Jamaica in Kingston.

"We will be discussing the pre-feasibility study and the acquisition of the land on which to build the airport," said George Watson, the executive director of the homecoming foundation's committee which is planning the airport under the chairmanship of PCJ's chairman Dr. Raymond Wright.

Today's meeting should see the appointment of directors for the company which was set up by Wright and other members of the committee to manage the airport.

"One of the major complaints we receive from time to time is the effort to get to Treasure Beach. People have to be hiring helicopters to take them to places like Treasure Beach. The airport to be built by the company, South Coast Airport Limited, will minismise the cost of transport and time to get to the attractions in the parish," said Mr. Watson.
