Wanted man nabbed

Simpson and Andem

ALRICK 'TATA' Simpson, whose gang the police say was responsible for the murder/ abduction of gas station operator Sylvia Edwards, has been slapped with several charges, following his arrest on Saturday.

Simpson and another man identified as a 34-year-old entertainer, Joseph Solomon, were nabbed during an operation in Harbour Head, Eastern King-ston. The police said they were caught loading over 1,000 pounds of ganja and five pounds of hashish onto a 32-feet boat.

Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of crime, Osbourne Dyer, said both men have been charged with possession of, dealing in and taking steps to export ganja.

In addition, Simpson has been charged with the abduction/murder of businesswoman Edwards, whose partially decomposed body was discovered on August 1, buried in a shallow grave at University Heights, St. Andrew.

She was trailed from her Plantation Heights home by her killers who abducted her along Red Hills Road. Following investigations, the police issued warrants of arrest for Simpson and Joel Andem. The police said that Andem was among the men who escaped on Saturday when the lawmen surprised them while loading the boat.
