Save the taxpayers some money!

THE EDITOR, Madam:

THE STREET People were promised $20,000 monthly an exorbitant offer, considering Civil Servants of whom I am one who is not getting that amount after various deductions.

I suggest the government build a "large house" to accommodate these people where they can receive three meals daily, bathe themselves and sleeping quarters being supervised preferably by a church group that has been providing meals for these people. This would be a means to provide employment for those who are not working and want to work.

It is surprising that these street people who were neglected by relatives suddenly have concerned relatives to spend their supposed $20,000 allowances. Where were these rapacious relatives while these people were scavenging the refuse of the city? Now that they have recognised them (thanks to government's $20,000), they should reinstate them back under the family roof and save us taxpayers.

I am, etc.,

Poor Civil Servant
