Watch the waistline

IT IS good advice to keep the inches off your waist. Physicians measure the distance around your waist and use it as a marker for abdominal fat. Too much abdominal fat could place you at risk for some of the lifestyle diseases. For a man with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 to 34.9, a waist measurement greater than 40 inches indicates higher health risks. If you are a woman with a BMI in this range, health risks are associated with a waist measurement greater than 35 inches.
