One of Jamaica's top international models continues the success story in the international fashion industry.
She is Pulse model Carla Campbell, who has been signed to the New York/Paris Karin network.
Carla has the distinction of being the only Jamaican model (with the exception of Lois Samuels) to have done as many as six shows at any of the major collections. This took place last month at the New York Fashion Week, where Carla appeared for such designers as Escada, Ann Bowen, C.D. Creene, Atil Kutoglu and Pierre Garudi.
She narrowly missed out on another three, including Armani and Donna Karan, who had held options for her.
Carla was the only black model featured on the shows in which she appeared.
Last week she jetted off to the Bahamas from Jamaica to shoot Halston's 2001 Spring/Summer Collection. Before that she did a photo shoot for the Spring 2001 catalogue for Abercrombie and Fitch. She worked with world famous photographer Bruce Webber.
Carla has expressed her delight at the progress she has been making so far and noted that plans were in place to do the Milan shows next season.
Carla's editorial feature in Cosmo Girl appeared in September and her multi-page spread for Saks Fifth Avenue was published in September's In Style. In December Jamaicans can look for her in an editorial system in Vibe and Seventeen magazines.
Carla is currently on hold for Tommy Hilfiger's new campaign set for November.
