Confident Ja meet Grenada

JAMAICA, leaders of the Caribbean Zone of the CONCACAF Under-20 World Cup qualifiers, need just a draw today to ensure they move a step closer to Argentina 2001.

They play the second game of the Harbour View Mini-Stadium doubleheader at 7:00 p.m. In the opening game at 5:00, Dominica meet the Cayman Islands.

With two wins, Jamaica lead the group with six points ahead of Grenada and Dominica who have three points apiece. The Cayman Islands are yet to win a game.

Despite being undefeated and scoring the most goals, the Jamaican camp will not underestimate the Grenadians who, like Jamaica, put five past the hapless Caymanians.

"Our chances are very good because we have won two in a row and we are going to play in front of our home crowd so we have the confidence in ourselves," said technical director Clovis de Oliveira.

"All of that is in our favour but we cannot predict the outcome. We are going to have a key game against Grenada. They won over the Caymans by four goals. That lifts the morale of your team."

Alister Dedellotte of Grenada, while conceding their loss on the opening night to Dominica all but put them out of the competition, said the Cayman win was a real boost for his team.

"Cayman lost to Jamaica 5-0 and now we beat them 5-1 so probably if we had won our first game things would have been easier and there would have been a real showdown with Jamaica," Dedellotte said.

"I think if we beat Jamaica it will be a big upset but when we get out there it's 11 versus 11 and you are always in with a chance."
