Case News - Ackee Production

THE COLLEGE of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE) is being positioned to take advantage of the resumption of canned ackee into the US market.

The college currently has more than 10 acres of ackee, which is used for research and the propagation of planting material. The Ministry of Agriculture also recently named the College as Jamaica's official centre for ackee research and cultivation.

At last month's Bureau of Standards-sponsored Symposium on "improving efficiency in the ackee industry," members of the faculty of agriculture shared their experience with farmers and food processors in attendance.
