A man who was assisting the victim of a gunman's attack was killed in a motor vehicle accident on the Annotto Bay main road in St. Mary, on Friday morning.
The dead man has been identified as 52-year-old farmer George Hunter, of Friendship Gap, St. Mary. Injured is Dennis Shaw, also of Friendship Gap. He was the driver of the car Mr. Hunter was travelling in along with a man who was wounded by gunmen earlier that morning at his business place.
Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network are that at about 5:20 a.m. the three were in a Toyota Corolla motor car on the way to the Annotto Bay Hospital. On reaching the vicinity of the Annotto Bay Bridge, Mr. Shaw reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a utility pole.
The injured persons were taken to hospital where Mr. Hunter was pronounced dead and the gunshot victim admitted. The driver was treated and released.
The police has withheld the name of the gunshot victim for security reasons.
