JTB to host Internet seminar for hoteliers

THE JAMAICA Tourist Board (JTB) will host an Internet seminar for hoteliers at the Wyndham Rose Hall Resort and Country Club in Montego Bay on February 6, 2001. The seminar targets both small and large hotels and aims to provide valuable information on e-commerce, online bookings, online sales strategies and maximising earnings through the Internet.

Director of Tourism, Mrs. Fay Pickersgill said in a release, that the seminar will provide tremendous opportunities for the JTB's industry partners to position themselves in the global marketplace and open new doors to business.

Registration is now under way and keynote speaker will be Mr. Lynn Mohrfeld, director of business development at WorldRes.com, USA, operators of Placetostay.com, one of the more successful Internet travel sites. Lynn Mohrfeld has been involved in the travel and tourism industry for more than 15 years. He oversees World Res.com's extensive network of destination partners, including Conventions and Visitors Bureaus, hotel and lodgings associations and tourism authorities. Mr. Mohrfeld has served on the International Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau Technology Task Force and was a member of the State of California, Office of Tourism Research Advisory Committee.

Other speakers are JTB chairman, Mr. Adrian Robinson, who will address the topic, "Jamaica Tourist Board as the Gateway"; Mrs. Claire Garth, manager, Blue Harbour Hotel who will provide the perspective of a hotelier and Mr. Paul Sloley, manager, Jamaica Reservation Service.
