FALMOUTH, Trelawny:

THE FALMOUTH Hospital and Infirmary is the recipient of a container load of medical supplies donated by Rotary Clubs in Holland and the United States last week.

The Rotary Clubs of Spring Lake in Holland, and Grand Heaven in the United States, also supplied a number of books which will go to educational institutions in the parish.

Arrangements for donation of the supplies, valued at about $4.5 million, was done through the Rotary Club of Montego Bay East.

The items were handed over during a presentation ceremony at the Falmouth Health Clinic. President of the Rotary Club of Montego Bay East, Alexander Konstantinov, himself a medical doctor, said donation of the supplies was timely. "Items such as these are necessities that cannot be provided all the time, and it is most welcomed," he said. He said the latest donation was about the eighth shipment of a container load of items that his Club has procured and they would continue to ask for assistance for Jamaica.

Mayor of Falmouth, Joseph Wright, who was also present at the ceremony, expressed gratitude for the supplies.

He said the Government could not do everything by itself and that the private sector and corporate Jamaica would have to assist for the effective running of the country.
