Westmoreland lead St. Elizabeth

DEFENDING champions St. Elizabeth went down on first innings to Westmoreland in their Cornwall Senior Cup cricket encounter at Allan Rae Oval at the weekend.

Batting first, St. Elizabeth were routed for 115 with Michael Salmon claiming four wickets and Anthony Andrews, Banton and Ewart two each, and in reply Westmoreland scored 168 with Andrews scoring 48, Ewart 37, and Cleveland Davidson 35. Ainsley Goss took four wickets for 35 runs and Sheldon Gordon four for 44.

Batting a second time, St. Elizabeth, thanks to a punishing innings of 126 not out by Carl Wright, scored 241 for five declared with Westmoreland easing to 55 for two at close.

Wright's innings included four sixes and eight fours. Sheldon Gordon scored 36 not out Salmon picking up two for 60.

In the other match in the Cornwall Senior Cup, Trelawny clipped St. James on first innings at Hampden.

Score: St. James 190 and 175 for 9 declared, Trelawny 193 and 36 without loss. Carlington Johnson of Trelawny took seven for 38 and six for 44 to finish with match figures of 13 for 82 while Nicarlo McFarlane took six for 72 for St. James.

In the only match in the Middlesex Senior Cup, St. Catherine and Clarendon played to a draw in their ran-affected match at Port Esquivel.

Score: St. Catherine 104 - Maurice Pinnock 36, Leon Bent six for 35, Clarendon 97 for 8 - Orlando Baker 57 not out, Brenton Beckford five for 54, Lascelles Davis three for 36.

AT ELLETSON ROAD: Andrew Gayle took six wickets as Lucas beat Police by 10 wickets. Lucas 213 (Rayon Smith 41, Delroy Morgan 36, Ryan Wellington 32, Andre Coley 30; Christopher Gordon 3-36, Timmy Thomas 3-49 and Rohan Belight 2-54); an one without losss.

Police 74 (James King 20, Daimian Frater 16; Ashuman Kentish 3-11, Morgan 3-12, Omar Burke 2-22, Andrew Gayle 2-15). Police following on 139 (Junior Forbes 42, Everton Tabannah 22; Gayle 4-25, Paul Beckett 2-39, Burke 2-39).

AT UP PARK CAMP: JDF's pacer Warren Medwinter took nine wickets to help crush St. Thomas by 10 wickets.

St. Thomas 133 (Rohan Chang 32 not out, Melvin Aquart 27; Warren Medwinter 5-32, Layton Brown 2-27, Howard Copeland 2-35) and 121 (Rawl McFarlane 5, Kevin Murray 14; Medwinter 4-33, Copeland 3-36, Mark Gray 2-4.

JDF 194 (Copeland 50, Marlon Kennedy 39, Norman Hutchinson 29; James Edward 7-66) and 62 without lost (Kennedy 32 not out, Anthony Folkes 23 nnot out).

AT KENSINGTON: Kensington 192 (Samuel Douglas 68, Mechan Staple 36; Rohan Britton 4-52, Orean Housen 3-65) and 103 for four declared (Staple 44, Ricardo McKenzie 30; Britton 2-22). Tivoli 156 (Housen 34, Craig Dawkins 26; Errol Wilson 9-40) and 114 for six (Omar Hamilton 48, Britton 22; Staple 3-31, Wilson 2-20).

AT SABINA PARK: Boy's Town 161 (Rohan Lambert 35, Jonathan Smith 34) and 200 for eight (Marlon Keating 64, Omar Campbell 63; Millwood 3-24, Sadique Phillips 2-47). Kingston 276 for five declare (Michael Millwood 104 nout out, Nicholas Austin 93).
