'Wadup' with Merciless?

Merciless at 'Sting'. - Michael Sloley

A NUMBER OF promoters are planning to stage events to capitalise on the notoriety of Merciless following his 'triumph' at 'Sting'. Big and Mighty Productions, an Ocho Rios-based promotional outfit will be testing the waters come January 31.

Merciless will at the Amnesia nightclub in Ocho Rios to appear on the show billed 'Wadup', named after one of his popular numbers.

According to a source at Big and Mighty, 'Wadup' will give the people of Ocho Rios and its environs a chance to experience the wit and humour of Merciless who has been busy recording for a soon-to-be-released album.

Big and Mighty could not say whether Merciless will be joined by any of his archrivals who had promised to clash with him wherever he went, but the company spokesman admitted the possibility was not ruled out.

'Wadup' will see juggling by Cinemax and the high riding Firelinks.

Beenie Man heads to Clarendon come Saturday, February 24, as the featured artiste on a showcase involving other members of the Shocking Vibes Crew. The performers will be at the Moments nightclub, in Clarendon, to celebrate the birthday of Dexton, a member of the Beenie Man road management team.

Other artistes on the line-up will be the hot Bling Dawg, Lady Saw, Silver Cat who hails from Clarendon and a host of other acts.

We have learned that the funeral service of late Ocho Rios businessman, Ainsworth 'Bessy' Lindo will take place this Sunday in Ocho Rios.

'Bessy' who was the younger brother of Jack Ruby, one of the most revered figures in Jamaican music and who was also involved in music and sport in the Ocho Rios area, will be interred in the Ocho Rios cemetery.

The service will take place at the football field on DaCosta Drive.

There is a cosy little spot in Ocho Rios called Brandy's. It's a little bar where friends can have a drink and a good conversation. There is background music which remains unobtrusive and a simply nice vibe to the terrace seating which reminds one of European cafes.

Respect to the operators Kirlew Russell and Barry Reeves and staff.

Andy Chin's Bibbie's is expanding and the place is simply humming with activities. People are flocking to the popular eatery in droves to taste the popular chicken wings and thighs served with that delicious sauce.

Bibbie's is just another example of what can happen when a businessman or woman tries to give the consumer what he or she really wants.
