Suicide suspected in two deaths

The police suspect suicide to be the cause of the deaths of one man who died in the Kingston Public Hospital on Thursday, and another who was found hanging from a tree in Manchester.

Dead are Dwight Brown, 22-year-old, labourer of Sandy River, Bull head in Clarendon and Alderman Russell, 43-year-old of St. Paul's District, in Manchester.

Mr. Brown died in the Kingston Public Hospital after reportedly drinking the deadly weedicide, gramoxone, on January 9.

Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network are that on January 9, Mr. Brown, who is believed to be of unsound mind, drank a concoction of rum and gramoxone.

He fell ill and was taken to the Percy Junor Hospital and later transferred the Kingston Public Hospital where he died about 10:30 p.m., on Thursday.

In Manchester, a farmer was reportedly looking for his goats when he stumbled upon Mr. Russell's body. The police were alerted and the body removed to the morgue for post-mortem.
