THE MEXICAN Theatre Centre of the International Theatre Institute is to honour Jamaican actress Leonie Forbes with the medal 'My Life In Theatre'. The official ceremony will be held in Xalapa, Veracruz, on World Theatre Day, March 27.

As part of its celebrations for World Theatre Day, the Mexican Theatre Centre will be honouring outstanding theatre personalities from Latin America and the Caribbean at an event which is billed the 'International Theatre Institute - UNESCO 21st Century Encounter'.

Ms. Forbes has received a number of awards for her contribution to theatre, including the Institute of Jamaica's Bronze and Silver Musgrave and Centenary Medals, as well as the Order of Distinction (Officer Class) from the Government of Jamaica.

According to a release, the actress was selected through a process of consultation with national cultural institutions as well as representatives of the Jamaican theatre community.
