Imported vehicles to be disinfected

MINISTER OF Agriculture, Roger Clarke, said yesterday that all vehicles imported from the United Kingdom will have to be disinfected before being allowed into Jamaica.

Mr. Clarke's announcement followed a suggestion from JLP MP Mike Henry (Central Clarendon) that since there were questions about how the dreaded Foot-and-Mouth disease is transported, vehicles imported into the island from areas affected by it should be sterilised before being allowed in.

They were both attending yesterday's meeting of the Standing Finance Committee of the House of Representatives.
