FATHER'S DAY is not as celebrated as Mother's Day largely because mothers often play a more integral role in the lives of their children than fathers.
In recent times, however, more fathers are becoming involved in the day-to-day activities of their children. In celebration of good fathers across the island, Flair asked some men to say what they loved about being a daddy. Then we asked their children what they loved about their dads.
Attorney Leonard Green has an 11-year-old daughter, Kathryn
"I enjoy the fact that she's a team player in the unit we call family. She understands her role and function in terms of her responsibilities within our unit and she's a catalyst for the relationship between her mother and myself."
Kathryn says she loves everything about her dad.
"Daddy is helpful, nice, playful and does many good things for mom and me. He exposes me to different things and wants the best for me. Sometimes we go walking or driving together and he teaches me interesting games. He recently signed me up for karate and I didn't even know."
Pharmacist/Actor, Teddy Price is the father of two children, Danielle and Peter.
"I love everything about my children, they are my fix. They are so pleasant and they bring out the best in me. I love sharing their happiness and their unpleasant moments. I love helping them turn their obstacles into benefits. They are everything to me and I say this without evasion, equivocation or any mental reservation."
Peter who is 14 says he loves the fact that his father tries to make everything perfect for them.
"I love the many ways he shows love for us but I love the things we do together -- just us. When he offered to train me for athletics I got a lot of valuable pointers and advice because he is knowledgeable in the subject. I also love the concern he shows for us."
Electrical engineer Steadley Fearon says he just loves his boys because:
"...they are mine. They are both totally different. Ricardo is so special and perfect sometimes it scares me and Mikhail reminds me of myself. But I love them for being my sons."
His 23-year-old son Ricardo says he loves the fact that his father listens to him.
"When I make a decision he's willing to support me, he doesn't force me to do what he wants me to do in terms of a career choice."
Engineer Donovan Hill says:
"I love my children because they keep me current."
Although they joke that they love when dad goes to sleep, Donovan's teenaged children, Vallana and Devrien say they really love their dad because:
"He gives us good advice, makes sacrifices, is observant and does little things like wake up at three in the morning to collect us from parties and he lives by example."
