'Well done, Gleaner'

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HAVE been enjoying the good coverage your newspaper has giving to environmental issues this week in the "Focus on the environment" section. I actually missed it last Wednesday when that day's instalment of the five-part series you promised was missing - but I am glad to see today's article.

Congratulations on your paper's attention to these issues. We have often had very little written about some details of our local situation and the pieces by Vogel and Douglas have been great to see. Most Jamaicans do not readily relate to the problems posed by the threats of extinction faced by many of our endemic species. The articles this week have helped immensely in that regard.

I am etc.,

HUGH E. LOUNGES
