Blair BRITISH PRIME Minister Tony Blair and his wife Cherie will visit Jamaica at the end of this month.
Mr. Blair will travel to Jamaica, Brazil and Mexico over five days, starting on Sunday, July 29.
While in Jamaica, the British Prime Minister is expected to have bi-lateral discussions with Prime Minister P.J. Patterson. These talks are expected to cover a wide range of issues but bananas might be high on the agenda.
The British Prime Minister is also expected to have a meeting with Caribbean Community Heads of Government.
Prime Minister Blair will attend the finals of the current five-a-side Prince's Cup football competition at Sabina Park in Kingston. The football programme was launched by Prince Charles during his visit to Jamaica in February last year. The British High Commission said the plan is for the Prime Minister to hand out the prizes, including a trip to London.
The Prince's Cup involves 74 inner-city communities in the Corporate Area. The key objectives of the tournament are to strengthen peace within and between communities, to increase the mobility of residents, to build capacity of local groups to work together to develop their community, to enhance economic activity in communities and to dispel the apathy and antagonism in the city.
Tony Blair is serving his second term as British Prime Minister having recently won the general elections by a convincing victory.
