THE EDITOR, Sir:
IF YOU have ever had the opportunity to hear S.S.P Reneto Adams speak about his career and the institution that he serves you may have to think hard to draw the line as to what is this man's conviction. Well I will tell you from my own experience. I believe he is a human being with wit, intelligence, commitment and plain good common sense. His success has been drawn not from his physical strength or abuse of citizens as most people would think, but his ability to get information and respect.
If he was not trusted he would have reaped very little success. His most profound statement I can remember, is to say that he had no friends and was not willing to join with any religious, political or civic group. When asked why, his simple answer was that this may impede his impartiality in executing his job. It may appear selfish or cold but to speak to him in an official or unofficial capacity you will see he is a normal and gentle individual with very little flair.
I am very sorry that he has been used as a pawn in the chess game and may have caught up with popularity and egotistical drive for success which creates a no- win situation for him. The concern is that he may fail if his success starts to seriously challenge the political status quo which I knew was bound to happen.
Reneto Adams, remember, for any wrongs you may have done in the past this is your opportunity to try and make them right with yourself, man and God. Your job may make your way of life but you and only you can make what you become. Pray today for all those lives which may be lost while you did your job, even if they were the devil's own sons or daughter. Only in God must you trust.
