Black's blast rocks Kenya NAIROBI, (Reuters) MARLON Black ripped through Kenya's top order to lead West Indies to a comfortable innings and 47 run victory in their opening three-day tour match yesterday. The 26-year-old right arm fast bowler from Trinidad took six wickets for just 35 runs, including top batsman Steve Tikolo, as Kenya were skittled out for just 134. West Indies, starting the day at 321 for three, put on a quick 93 runs in the morning session before declaring at 414 for seven. Ramnaresh Sarwan was the first to go, caught and bowled by pace bowler Martin Suji for 108 off 176 balls, including 13 fours. But Courtney Browne soon took up his mantle, rattling off an unbeaten 52 off just 58 balls before the declaration. Black then set about Kenya's batting line-up. Openers Kennedy Otieno (4) and Jimmy Kamande (0) were both caught in the slips off Black's bowling in the first and third overs respectively. When Tikolo (25) was clean bowled by Black with the score on 45, West Indies had the scent of victory. Kenya lost another three wickets for just 10 runs to reach 55 for six. Suji resisted bravely, but was eventually out leg before off Black for 29, who also took the final wicket of Peter Ochieng. "It was a pretty good match, we played very well and bowled pretty well," said West Indies coach Roger Harper. "We must improve on our catching as we missed quite a few chances. "Kenyans need to play the longer version of the game more often. They need more tours and to play first class opposition in the three-day and four-day matches," he said. Kenyan coach Sandip Patil admitted his side needed to improve. "We batted badly, although we are capable of playing much better," he said. "We are not giving up. Remember we played a Test side and we must use this loss to learn from them." The two sides next play a four-day match in the coastal town of Mombasa starting on Thursday.
