Patriotism and economy class

THE EDITOR, Sir:

My question is how can letter-writer Mr. Alan Morris and others like him claim to love Jamaica unconditionally, yet they are Jamaicans and have chosen to migrate and live in foreign lands? Don't they know that if they came back to help those of us who remained here and are still here through the bad times fight for our Jamaica we would no doubt not be in the mess we are in now.

It really irks me to see letters like this in The Gleaner as they really are hypocritical.

One other feeling on "fixing Jamaica" is maybe the government of the day should clean up their backyard (Jamaica) before spending US$20 million on tourism.

They should also look into their spending habits of taxpayers money, that is, their expensive travels abroad for business and pleasure.

Why take such an entourage and stay at such exclusive and expensive hotels. Why not fly economy instead of first class?

I am, etc.,

A RESIDENT JAMAICAN
