For a better Jamaica

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM writing with much concern about Jamaica. From as far as I can remember, Jamaica has had its many trials and share of problems but as time goes by, it has become worse. All these senseless killings that have been going on have been putting a bad light on us. Tourists no longer feel safe and welcomed in our country.

What has happened to our motto "Out of Many, One People?" Is it of any significance anymore? If indeed out of many, we are one people, then why can't we start standing for what we believe in? Why can't we fast and pray and expect answers from God? Don't we believe He is powerful enough to put an end to the impossible? Why can't we be united? Why can't the heads of the country start working together for a better Jamaica?

Instead of each political party trying to talk each other down, they need to start working together. They need to be more concerned about the country's needs instead of their own needs.

Jamaicans, if there was ever a time we need to be united, it is surely now because out of many, we are indeed one people.

I am, etc.,

V. PARKER
