On selling out

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM a Jamaican living in New York for the past eight years. I get so angry and frustrated with those so-called executives who are selling out every bit of the country's infrastructure to our Caribbean neighbours. Today I saw where HD Hopwood is now sold to Neal & Massy of Trinidad & Tobago.

I would like to know what the real benefits are to Jamaicans and we who are funnelling back thousands of dollars each into the Jamaican economy. What are Jamaican companies buying in Trinidad, Barbados and other Caribbean islands as compensation for what we are giving up?

I hope the Gleaner Company is not in negotiation for a possible sale to one of our Caribbean neighbours.

I am etc.,
