TWO 'MISSING' Jamaicans have been found.
Friends had registered Owen Bernard, missing in the Consulate's register while friends had posted pictures of 'missing' Orlando Quessley on the memorial wall in New York, following the bombing of the World Trade Center.
It was a case of mistaken identity for both men.
Reports to The Gleaner are that Quessley, who worked at the World Trade Center, could not be found after the Twin Towers collapsed. Pictures were posted, and they bore a striking resemblance to a security guard who worked in the same building at the WTC.
That security guard is still missing.
Quessley was injured and found himself in a New Jersey hospital. He has been released. A woman who described herself as "a friend" at a Miami forwarding phone number confirmed that Quessley is "okay and doing well."
"I can't give you any more details, only to say thank God," she said. She adds that he was not in Miami "but elsewhere."
Bernard also worked at the WTC, but he had made it out safely after the bombing, and has been in Long Island.
The Jamaican Consulate, which has set up a register for missing Jamaicans, has confirmed both reports. The Consulate now says that three Jamaicans are confirmed dead and 12 missing.
Fatalities
The fatalities include Neil Hinds, who was buried on Saturday morning in Great Neck, New York; Keith Broomfield, who was a broadcast technician and worked with Advent Corps on Tower One; and Michael Richards, an artist who worked all night in preparation for an upcoming exhibition.
Richards' father reportedly flew to New York last week.
Those still missing are Vaswald Hall, who was making delivery in Building One, WTC, and is an ex-police officer; Courtney Walsh, who was working on the 83rd floor; Carol Rabalais, the mother of three children and an employee of AON; Venesha Richards, who worked at Marsh & McLennan on the 100th floor, Tower One as a brokers claim representative; Karen Gordon, who worked with Cantor Fitzegerald on the 105th floor; Denise Gregory nee Sewell; Sunnette Edwards; Steve Bunin; Delrose Cheatham; Rochelle Snell; Michael Parkes, senior accountant and son of Jim and Sonia Parkes; and Crossley Williams, who worked with Fiduciary Trust as a financial analyst.
