LOCAL SOUND systems are getting on the information highway, creating web sites for partygoers and fans. They use the medium to stay in touch with fans from all over the world, who have always been eager to find about the sound systems and their selectors.
At least three sounds currently have websites. Renaissance has renaissance.com, Nitro the CD sound is found at nitrousl.com and Stone Love locks down stonelove.com.
The sound systems say they designed their websites three years ago as a form of promotion and keeping current with the methods of communication in the 21st century. "It is a way where people could get up close and personal with us and get information that they wouldn't normally get by listening to us at a party," said Jeff of CD sound Nitro. The sound systems, which are currently upgrading their sites, have offered features such as guest books, photo albums of events and a chance for fans to listen in on the dubs that the sounds play.
Nitro's site provides links with other sites in the entertainment industry. They say that when upgrading is finished they will offer live talk, giving the fans a chance to chat with the selectors on the sound.
Renaissance's site offers pictures from past events as well as music. There are also plans to promote the upcoming 'Delano's Revenge', scheduled for a date in November. "We plan to make improvements, probably in Christmas. It's our way of keeping up with the times and being more twenty-first century like," explained Avery Leach, who manages Renaissance.
The sites currently get visitors from all over of the world. Nitro, for example, says it gets roughly 50 hits per day. "People wanted to understand more about the CD concept, because for most it's the first they were hearing of a CD sound," Jeff explained. All the sounds say the feedback has been good. "It's been informative and easy to communicate with the guys. It adds a little vibe for the fans who want to find out more about us," Leach said.
