FileJUST TWO-AND-A-HALF months after the first historic Gleaner auction, the newspaper is getting into the spirit of the Yuletide season -- donning its Santa suit -- and hosting another daring auction on December 15 at Cinema II, New Kingston.
And there will be even more items up for grabs this time!
All you have to do, dear reader, is show up, and oh, come armed with your clipped 'G' dollars, to beat out rivals who want to snap up favoured items like refrigerators, living room sets, VCRs, washing machines and television sets.
Last time around, bid-happy persons inflated prices of items like toasters to $200,000 but this time, organisers have worked out the kinks in the system, putting measures in place to prevent bids from soaring to maddening heights.
"This time around, there will be no $2,000 or $1,000 bills ... that's what caused the inflation last time, we'll be sticking to smaller denominations therefore people who buy daily can also benefit as people will not have quite so much money as they did last time," explained Hope McMillan, The Gleaner's PR/Marketing Officer.
"We'll also be getting a lot more small items so people who come to bid and participate will get something. We'll have specialised bids like a 'senior citizen bid', and there will be raffles of the registration cards to give away other prizes, so that more people will have a chance to go home with something," she said.
So, readers, come ready to set the auction blocks on fire when the auctioneer starts his spiel at The Gleaner Auction at Cinema II at noon on December 15.
Time is running out get your 'G' dollars on page two of The Gleaner Monday to Saturday.
