Charge politicians for foul speech

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WITH A general election imminent one would expect that all our politicians would be behaving in a civilised manner. I wonder if we are not the most hostile people. We are so aggressive, ready to burst into flames and some of what we hear daily only helps to fuel the fire.

Sir, it is time that our politicians upgrade the standard of their campaign on public behaviour. If DJs can be charged for obscene language, then politicians should be charged also. Erase the old tapes with name-calling, mud-throwing and abuses.

Sir, we are debtors to this generation of young people to behave in such a manner that is worthy of emulation, "Teach us true respect for all."

I am, etc.,

PHILIP A. NEIL

Juntion P.O.

St. Elizabeth
