THE EDITOR, SIR:I FELT really bad on Saturday, December 1, while watching the evening television news and witnessing an articulate lady speak of her experience with the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
She spoke explicitly of the need to educate people on the virus and the love she had for the fellow mankind. Thus she decided to go public with her experiences.
She also spoke of her personal encounter with ignorant people who spat on her and stoned her.
This lady should be cherished because she demonstrated that there are still some in our society with spine to face the odds.
Even on the verge of an impending death she showed that she meant well for all humankind. She showed resilience even in her saddest days. What a courageous lady!
The matters of most importance that she emphasised were the use of a condom whenever one is having sex.
This should be impressed on the mind of the present generation or a lot of valuable human beings are going to fall prey to this cruel disease.
There is no discriminatory aspect of AIDS concerning race. It affects all races. Those who stoned her should hang their heads in shame if only they are capable of reading this article.
May her soul rest in peace and the blessings from above give her perpetual joy in the new beginning.
I am, etc.,
