Triple-header tribute for Shorty Malcolm

Malcolm

WESTERN BUREAU:

THE ST. JAMES FA will mark the first anniversary of the death of former national utility player Stephen 'Shorty' Malcolm with the staging of a triple-header at Jarrett Park this afternoon.

Two teams featuring masters age players and celebrities from Kingston and Montego Bay will meet in the 3:00 p.m. opening game followed by the semi-finals of the St. James FA Natural Mystic/Splash Knockout competition.

The Montego Bay Masters/Celebrity team is expected to include Edwin Alcock, Alvin Clarke, Paul 'Tegat' Davis, Egerton Forrester, Dr. Dean Weatherly and George Evans.

Seba United, the club Malcolm represented, and Granville will meet at 5:00 p.m. followed by Premier League club Wadadah versus National A League team Mt. Salem, starting at 7:00 p.m.

Malcolm died of massive head injuries he received in a one-car accident along the Spring Hill Main Road in Trelawny on January 28 last year, hours after he had represented Jamaica in a friendly international against Bulgaria at the National Stadium.

Malcolm was travelling from the game with teammate Theodore Whitmore and Charles Ewan.
