The scope of works under the contract to Y.P. Seaton and Associates entails widening Marcus Garvey Drive and Hagley Park Road to accommodate three lane traffic, while the approach leg from Spanish Town Road (coming from the direction of Six Miles) will be four lanes, including two turning lanes onto Marcus Garvey Drive.
The approach leg from Darling Street will have three lanes.
It was reported at the signing that work on the full Three Miles project was 80 per cent complete, and work on the round-a-bout area could be wrapped up by the end of this month.
Three Miles will become a four-way intersection controlled by traffic lights when the transformation is complete. The area will also have slip roads as part of the traffic management plan.
Contractors on the project, which began last October, are Tank Weld Construction Limited.
