In praise of Agassi

THE EDITOR, Sir:

HAIL TO you, Andre Agassi, for the demonstration of your various attributes in devoting your life to the upliftment of the youth of world, by sharing your talent. And may God bless you on your way to the French Open 2002, after being the champion who is defending your throne in the event.

You have extended educational benefits to the youth of Las Vegas through the school system and a number of Jamaicans are reaping the benefits of your philanthropy.

You are one of a small band of tennis titans who have won every Grand Slam (including company with the great Rod Laver). In that achievement you are a role model to the youth of the world.

Especially for your helping hand to students of my country Jamaica, extended by means of the educational system of Las Vegas. I honour you with thanks and humility. Go forward with God's blessings.

I am, etc.,

V. LLOYD SIMPSON
