The presentation was made at a ceremony held in NCB's boardroom in Kingston.NCB'S CHALLENGE Fund, a disaster relief initiative started to address the mayhem caused by the incessant rains received a significant boost from cellular company Digicel when it made a donation of $500,000 toward the Fund. This will go some way in helping NCB reach its target of $100 million.
Managing Director Chris Lowe said he was very pleased with the response so far, and expressed gratitude to Digicel for their generous donation.
"Already we have reached the $5 million mark and with contributions such as the one we have received from Digicel, we expect to draw ever so closer to our target. Digicel continues to be a great partner to NCB and a great corporate citizen as well," said Mr. Lowe.
Digicel's CEO Mr. Seamus Lynch congratulated NCB on its excellent initiative and encouraged the nation to lend support to this worthy cause.
"NCB's Challenge Fund will go a long way in helping Jamaicans in need, particularly rural Jamaicans who have to been among the hardest hit, said Mr. Lynch.
