IF YOU have never seen past festival song competition winners perform on-stage together, then you will get that chance when the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) and MKB Productions stage 'Festival Showcase'.

Details of the show were outlined at the launch of the event on Tuesday at Casson's Restaurant and Bar.

The show, dubbed 'Festival Showcase', will see two shows being held on July 31 and August 3. The July 31 show will be held at the Caribbean Showplace in Montego Bay and the August 3 show will be held at the Goodyear Oval in St. Thomas.

For the shows, the line-ups will include past winners such as Eric Donaldson, Hopeton Lewis, Tinga Stewart, The Astronauts, Stanley Beckford and other past winners. In addition, their will be guest performances from Abijah, U-Roy, Alton Ellis and Derrick Morgan.

Keith Brown of MKB Productions said they had wanted to have more than two shows, however it was not possible. He said they were hoping to put together a first class package and hoped that the production would complement the good performances that will be on display.

Brown added that he hoped that patrons would come to the show on time. He said that with the promotion, the message of an early start would appeal to the patrons.

Three time festival winner Roy Rayon, who spoke on behalf of the past winners, said the event was a good idea.

"It's more than an honour to be here representing people who I had a serious rivalry with. My only regret is that it is just two shows," said Rayon.

The show will be emceed by Count Prince Miller.

Apart from that, there were performances from Zack Henry of the Astronauts and Stanley Beckford, who gave the audience a taste of what they had to offer at the showcase.
