Road repair programme in NE St Catherine unsatisfactory - JLP's Dabdoub

Dabdoub

JLP Member of Parliament for North-East St. Catherine, Abe Dabdoub, expressed displeasure with regard to the road rehabilitation programme in the constituency.

The roads of major concern are:

Natural Bridge to Troja main road: This work programme has ceased, leaving the road in a deplorable condition and the quality of the work carried out is inadequate, Mr. Dabdoub said.

Crawle road in Riversdale: The Crawle road in Riversdale should have commenced from last year. The original sub-contractor has failed to commence the road repairs and no new sub-contractor has been appointed despite the fact that the Member of Parliament has recommended a different sub-contractor. The people are still without a proper roadway.

Mr. Dabdoub said that he had observed that there are a number of other roads for which funds have already been approved, but the works programme still not commenced. These include the Harewood to Darling Spring road, the Grateful Hill road and the Cashew Tree to Lucky Hill road, all of which are more than long overdue for repairs.

Cashew Tree to Lucky Hill, Mt. Industry: The commencement of work on this road is long overdue and he said that he is particularly concerned as to what has happened in relation to the funds allocated to repair this road.

Mr. Dabdoub said that he is requesting the Minister to insist that the Ministry officials consult with him as Member of Parliament, in keeping with Government's stated policy, regarding the appointment of contractors with a view to immediately commencing the repair programme.
