Yap Jacks and double standards

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WISH to bring to your attention the double standards that exist in our precious island.

I had the experience of having a Yap Jack confiscated at the Norman Manley Airport by a customs officer. He told me that it was illegal to import a Yap Jack. This I was able to confirm with Mr. Winston Hay of the OUR.

The question I want to ask the customs department is - Is it that WebCom is authorised to import Yap Jacks while the rest of Jamaicans are not allowed to do so? WebCom and all its subsidiaries/agents have Yap Jacks available for sale.

I would like someone from the Customs Department to explain this to me.

I am, etc.,

CONCERNED
