MarksTHE SEVENTH Job Creation Award Ceremony, hosted by the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) and sponsored by Cable & Wireless Jamaica Ltd., will be held today, August 27, 2002 at the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel.
Companies whose new investment have created a minimum of 25 new employment opportunities within the last six months are recognised at this event. A recent addition to these awards is the recognition of entrepreneurs/small business companies who have created a minimum of five additional jobs. The Small Business Association of Jamaica has been asked to collaborate with the PSOJ in selecting monthly recipients from this sector.
Six companies will be awarded at this month's breakfast ceremony - Burger King, Digicel, Norton Telecommunications, Point to Point, U2Connect and the Small Business recipient - ProBarr Corp. Jamaica Ltd.
The guest speaker will be Ms. Audrey Marks, Managing Director of Paymaster Ltd.
"New business jobs need to be created", said Oliver Clarke, PSOJ President, "these companies need to be recognised for their entrepreneurial spirit and for their creation of jobs for the benefit of their companies, their employees and for Jamaica".
The PSOJ invites the public to make nominations for this award. Nominations may be made by contacting the PSOJ at Tel: 978-6795-6, 927-5137 or by e-mail at psoj@cwjamaica.com. The PSOJ, however, reserves the right to make the final selection for the awards through a PSOJ nominated selection committee.
The next Job Creation Award will be held on 24th September, 2002.
